Our History

Turning Ideas Into Change

Diversio’s story began in 2018 when Founder & CEO, Laura McGee, realized that “diversity” and “inclusion” had become buzzwords in the business world, but little action was being taken to actually change things. After a series of conversations with CEOs who didn’t doubt that improving diversity, equity, and inclusion would help their companies perform better—but who also didn’t know how to go about making those improvements—the proverbial “lightbulb moment” hit — There were many companies that genuinely wanted change, but they lacked the data, metrics and tools needed to translate their diversity, equity, & inclusion commitments into actions.

After encountering initial skepticism from venture financing, Laura and her co-founder & COO, Anya Klimbovskaia, decided to go it alone; bringing their combined passion for DEI, strong business ingenuity, and a tireless commitment to the goal, they bootstrapped the research, planning, and development of the software that powers Diversio today.

The next three years proved those early skeptics wrong by quickly bringing on clients large and small from sectors as diverse as energy, construction, technology and private equity from dozens of countries across North America, Europe, and Asia, and by early 2020, Diversio’s growing roster of clients were starting to report significant change from their employee’s inclusion metrics.

In January of 2022, Diversio reached another significant milestone as it’s continued to lead the DEI technology space: closing our Series A funding with First Round Capital, Golden Ventures and Chandaria Family Holdings. This investment allows us to continue to innovate and improve our data-driven solutions to help companies measure, benchmark, and improve DEI, and serves as further confirmation of the importance of our mission to build more inclusive cultures at companies worldwide.
