Privileges have many forms and is often invisible to those who have it. Yet, for those who don’t, their lack of privilege is acutely felt, shaping their experiences and opportunities in profound ways.  Participants of privilege training will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of privilege and explore strategies for leveraging it in positive ways for the benefit of their colleagues and organizations.

  • Define privilege and identify various forms of privilege, including those related to race, gender, socioeconomic status, and more.
  • Explore common myths and misconceptions surrounding privilege, gaining insight into how privilege operates within societal systems.

Reflection & impact

  • Reflect on the personal and systemic impacts of privilege in the workplace, considering how privilege shapes individual experiences, opportunities, and interactions.
  • Examine the intersectionality of privilege and power dynamics, recognizing the complexities of privilege across different social identities.

Strategies for positive action

  • Learn strategies to leverage privilege in positive ways for colleagues and the organization, including advocating for marginalized voices, challenging inequitable practices, and promoting inclusivity.
  • Develop skills for having difficult conversations about privilege, fostering understanding, empathy, and allyship among colleagues.

Allyship & advocacy

  • Explore the role of allyship in using privilege to support and uplift marginalized individuals and communities within the workplace.
  • Understand the importance of actively engaging in allyship efforts to dismantle systemic barriers, foster diversity, equity, and inclusion, and promote a more equitable work environment.
